Deanna's Story
What motivates our company? We're driven by personal experience.
"In 2005, my precious little boy Zachary was diagnosed with Autism. At first, our reaction was one of heartbreak and confusion. What do we do? How could this happen to one of our children? Together as a family, we took several months to grieve, gather ourselves and do countless hours of research in preparation for this new journey we were now forced to embark on. We adopted the "Get over it and get on with it" mantra and chose to own this diagnosis and embrace all that comes along with it.
In our many hours of research, we came across staggering statistics of a world-wide epidemic that's just starting to surface in mainstream media. Just a few years ago, 1 in 2,000 children were diagnosed with Autism. Today, it's up to 1 in 150! With such a large segment of our population living with this disorder, the demand for effective therapeutic tools has skyrocketed. We've spent hours upon hours in therapy for Zachary and in an effort to continue and reinforce his learning process at home we were disappointed to find that there were no entertaining learning based videos or products for children like Zachary. When he watched many of the leading brands of DVDs that our neurotypical child enjoyed, he quickly lost interest and completely disengaged when he could not process the fast moving content and storyline. That's when I met with a long-time television producer and together launched My World Learning.
So, why develop products for children with Learning Delay? Just as our company's name states, My World Learning developmental products are specifically designed from the perspective of children like Zachary. Our mission is to promote maximum potential for comprehension through quality products that they can truly enjoy!
In addition to having a child with Autism, I hold a B.A. in Psychology and have experience tutoring children with Developmental Challenges."
